The problem was to design a Graphical User Interface for use by the Security Personnel posted at the main Entry/Exit points of the IIT Guwahati Campus, so as to allow the monitoring and logging of all non-regular visitors entering and exiting the campus.
Applying a thorough user-centered design approach, the process included UCD deliverables such as persona development, task analuses, information and data flows, wireframe and interactive mockups. The project outcome was to propose an interactive interface for the Security System which would be based on the mental model of the security personnel in-charge of monitoring the access points on the campus.
