As a designer of interactive products and services satisfying future needs, Soumitra currently leads User Innovation - an Innovation and Design Agency in Mumbai, India.
Soumitra has executed research and design projects in various domains such as consumer goods, sports equipment, telecommunication, sustainable products and services, base-of-the-pyramid, retail environments, assistive technology, learning aids, e-commerce and enterprise software for some of the leading brands in these areas including Philips, T-Mobile, Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems. He has presented his designs and research at centers like the MIT Media Lab, Cambridge, and in conferences on technology and design like ACM TEI. He also contributes his expertise to other brand and product innovation teams in India. He has been invited as a visiting lecturer in MBA schools in Mumbai to share projects and cases on topics such as: user-driven innovation, product-service-systems, and responsible and sustainable design.
Soumitra has a MSc. degree in Industrial Design Engineering from the Delft University of Technology, and a Bachelor’s degree in Design from the Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati.
